Huge menu, great food, coffee is delicious. I'm not too impressed with the waitstaff. There always seems to be a huge wait to get something I request. (more coffee, extra napkins, etc.) We just moved to the area and this place was a #1 request for restaurants to try by several people. We've been her 4 times in 2 months! Yum!

Good breakfast food, not really had anything else. Service was average, but good fill breakfast. Nothing special, but a bit expensive.

Great food! Pulled pork sandwich was large, tasty, not too shredded (like usually found) which provides a more satisfying, substantial eating experience. Served on a generous, corn-meal dusted Kaiser roll. And just 5.29 @lunchtime.

Wish I could give 0 stars! Sat here for far too long with my family and did not receive service. Multiple other tables were served before us as we continued to be ignored. The settings were only for 2 people although there were 3 of us! My 5 year old got a first hand account of what it feels like to be ignored and treated as though you do not matter. Would NOT recommend.

I left for work early enough to grab a quick bite to eat, so I decided to check out The Copper Penny. It is a tiny, non-descript place on Harper and with very limited breakfast options in the area, really the only choice for me considering the time constraint. I quickly took a seat at the bar that holds about four chairs. The patrons all seemed like they knew each other, in fact I felt like I had walked into someone's retirement party at VFW hall. Everyone was very nice though and the neighborhood aspect of the place was a plus. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet, hash browns well done and some wheat toast. I hate to say it, but the whole thing was underwhelming. The has browns weren't crispy, the cheese, which was stacked American slices wasn't melted when I cut into the omelet and there just wasn't anything about the dish that stood out. I am always disappointed when I go to a place and feel like I can make something much better at home. I admit to being a bit of a breakfast snob and this just doesn't do it for me. To Recap: The Good: Friendly locals, modest prices, plenty of parking. The Bad: I don't want to say bad, just nothing that stands out. If I can't recommend an item off the menu with confidence, I won't suggest someone try a place out. The Band This Restaurant Most Resembles: The Offspring. Just not my taste.

First time eating here. My wife and I tried some of the sandwiches. The food was excellent & fresh. It was refreshing to see soup and fresh veggies as sides & substitutions to fries. Had the pumpkin cheesecake for desert. It was yummy! Great local place to eat.

Went here the other day for breakfast. Small but very cozy restaurant. The ambiance and decor was good but I am not here for that. It is, after all, 8 on a Sunday morning so I am starvin' Marvin! No breakfast special on weekends. Booooooo. Big downer. A friend and I ordered. Mine was biscuits with sausage gravy and scrambled egss, his was toast, hashbrowns, eggs and susage links. Though the biscuits were soft and moist, the gravy leaves much to be desired. It was, at best average. Scrambled eggs were good BUT, if a restaurant can NOT scramble eggs properly, it is NOT worth visiting again right? My friend thought the hasbrowns were "clumpy." And for him NOT to finish his hasbrowns ANY time of the day, IT IS saying something. The breakfast sausages were HUGE! In size that is, NOT in taste. The experience was disappointing overall especiallly since my friend recommended it (though we were looking for the Crock Pot) but I must honestly say I think I would rather have my McMuffin next time around.

I have been to this restaurant several times, mostly during breakfast hours. I have yet to be disappointed. The food, service and cleanliness are at the top of the scale. Portions are plentiful and their soup, whatever the flavor has always been delicious! The service is very attentive and prompt. A number one recommendation for a solid family restaurant.

I was a frequent customer since they opened. Until the day I went to breakfast with my two sons. I ordered a feta and sausage omelet . I received a sausage and regular cheese omelet with the cheese all melted inside. I told my waitress about it and she told me she would quickly have it remade . In about 45 seconds she brought me back my plate . After looking at it for a second and wondering how the cook made an omelet so fast I realized he didn't... He scraped the melted cheese out of it then threw a hand full of cold feta in the middle and folded it back over.. I went right to the cooks window to ask why he would serve me something like this . He told me that is how they make feta omelets. Then penny the owner pretty much kicked me out because I had the nerve to say something to her cook... This is how they treated a repeat customer that always tipped great . If you want breakfast go to karras brothers down the road . The food and the wait staff are 100% better. By the way this is the first review I ever wrote about anything in my life. That's how bad my experience was

My coffee was topped off at least 20 times. The server topped off my coffee immediately after another server topped off my coffee. Then came back and topped it off again before I even took a sip. One waitress cruised the isles with two pots of coffee like she was a gunslinger or something. I was afraid to refuse anymore coffee. So I'm really wired out right now.

We tried The Copper Penny last week for breakfast, good food, and lots of it at good prices. I ordered the Potato Pancakes and loved them, crispy outside and tender inside, and with green onions(onions are always a plus with me), and bacon. If you want large portions you'll find them here. We got there right at the breakfast rush, it's a small place so there was a wait(no awfully long) for a table, but the good food and friendly service more than made up for the wait. They have a huge menu, there is something for everyone's taste and then some. I'm planning to go back and see how their lunches are, and hopefully it won't be quite as busy. Now busy isn't always a bad thing, it tells you the place is well liked and I can see why.

Went for breakfast today. Ordered eggs and bacon. Sent back the plate because the eggs were seriously undercooked. When the waitress brought back my plate, the bacon was gone so I asked her what happened to it. The cook accused me of eating the bacon! Only reason this place gets one star is because of the nice waitress.

I frequently stop here with co-workers to grab a quick bite -- everything on the menu seems to be pretty decent. Their french fries are amazing, and the staff is super friendly. I especially like the mushroom soup, that's typically served towards the end of the week. However, while I like this popular St. Clair Shores lunch spot, I have one big pet peeve: at lunchtime, or even when it's not so busy, the service is pretty slow. We waited 25 minutes for our order, and then we had to rush through it to spend 10 minutes checking out at the cashier stand. One of the waitresses flat-out cannot figure out the register system -- we waited 15 minutes while we were trying to pay. But if you're not in a hurry, this is a great place to stop in.

We went here on memorial day cuz every place else was closed, and you're nuts if you think I'm going to Palmers again!!! I got 2 eggs, bacon and pancakes (cuz I didn't see the bog breakfast till after) Well the eggs were good. They gave me an interesting wheat toast that was barely toasted, and 3 small pancakes. Oh I got a tiny plastic cup of syrup which I believe was sugar free. Nothing really stood out... The coffee was ok, but every time I got my sugar/cream ratio perfect, they put more in without asking... So, yeah... Not super... Won't go back... Oh and some old dude cut in front of me in line to pay....Jerk

Love Copper Penny! The food is good, the people are better, prices are incredibly fair. My husband and I love supporting local businesses vs. chains. Copper Penny is a great example why. Penny is usually here, and always makes a point to stop by the table and say Hi! The service is always great, the waitresses are always friendly. Great place to take family and friends. They are usually open on holidays for a little bit. My husband and I are very busy and don't do a lot of cooking so we can usually count on Copper Penny to be open when nothing else is. Enjoy!

Ordered the copper penny omelet ( I think that's what is called ) hash browns and I think bacon or sausage stuffed in a egg omelet thing with breakfast gravy and cheese with choice of toast or biscuit, I took the bis cuts, the person I was with got the egg sandwich with bacon. order came fast, the waitress was one of those truck stop waitress, nice, professional, but looks like she don't take no S**T, anyway the bis cuts were dry and the butter was frozen, the omelet was OK, sorta of bland, the bottom of the bis cut was hard as a rock, then i see this fruit fly flying around my food, OK, this is restaurant, Iv worked in restaurants so I'm on the understanding side.then, it happened, then the son of a &*%$ landed in my food, thank god I got to eat at least half of my omelet. the other person eating me said that the egg sandwich was not very good either and only ate half, The bill came to $12 and some change, I'm a little disappointed and probably wont be back.

My family & I went here for breakfast this past weekend. It's a small diner-ish place so we weren't expecting much aside from a decent breakfast. Needless to say from my 2 stars, it was disappointing. My daughter and I had waffles that were certainly the worst waffles I have ever had. Maybe if I had had a steak knife, they would have been easier to eat! Very tough. My husband had the sausage gravy and biscuits, the biscuits weren't bad, but the gravy was truly lacking (definitely a heat a serve situation and a pretty poor one at that.) There are plenty of places to get a good breakfast in the area so we'll be going to one of those next time!

This place is one of the nicer breakfast spots in the Saint Clair Shores area. I've been here a handful of times with groups for breakfast/brunch/lunch and enjoyed the food each time. 1 star - Price to quality ratio - everything tastes great and is better than you would expect from such a low price. 1 star - Family feel - I only go here on the weekends but each time I've been they are quite busy with families. Generally family heavy places are efficient in food preparation and have quick service. 1 star - Location - Located in the middle of nowhere on Harper so you don't have to worry about heavy traffic pulling in/out of the parking lot. 1 star - Service - despite being in larger groups each time I have been the servers seem to do a pretty decent job maintaining a high level of service. A few times they have started out slowly but picked it up right away and gave us a good experience. -1 star - Size - not conducive to groups over 5-6 people. Always feels like a cluster cramming in people and they really don't have the space to make giant tables to accommodate larger groups.
